AMFEX is both happy and proud to annouce that we have just had our first AIB (American
Institute of Baking) inspection and have passed with flying colors. We
received a superior rating (930 out of a possible 1000) on July 31, 2001. This is a
certification that many major U.S. Food companies require prior to issuing
approval of both suppliers and service vendors. It shows that a vender has
taken the time and effort to institute programs that will help to insure the
safety and control of their products and/or services provided. Although we
are very proud of the rating we have received we will be striving for an
even better rating on next years inspection.
AIB has established internationally recognized standards for food
distribution and handling centers.
These standards and criteria are a combination of good
management principles; the U.S. federal food drug and cosmetic act; good
manufacturing & distribution practices; U.S. Military Sanitary Standards and
U.S.D.A regulations. AIB Provides Information to help warehouse managers to
keep their facilities within regulatory guidelines. Information And
inspections covers these major areas:
- Adequacy of food safety program
- Pest control
- Operational methods & personnel practices
- Maintenance for food safety
- General cleaning practices
Standards are based on the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, the Good
Manufacturing Practices, and the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and
Rodenticide Act. The manual explains AIB International's audit criteria and
rating system.
The standards are the basis for an AIB International food safety/hygiene
audit. This in-depth analysis includes an optional rating system which
provides management with an index of how well a facility is complying with
food safety regulations as well as to the established internal standards set
by the individual company.
